What are the best baby shoes for my girl to learn to walk in?

My daughter is 10 months and is starting to walk. I am wondering what kinda of shoes that would be good for her to learn to walk with approprite traction and being able to feel the ground through the shoes and all that jazz. What kinds did you try? i have looked at striderite, robeeze and those kinds of shoes. what else is good?

What are the best baby shoes for my girl to learn to walk in?
The best shoes I%26#039;ve found is from Stride Rite. The sole is very soft, unlike any other shoes you%26#039;ll find. They are pricey though, but well worth it. They have shoes for different levels, crawlers, cruisers...etc.

Reply:If u read parenting magazines it will tell u that kids learn to walk better without shoes. There feet actually touching gives them more balance. Report It

Reply:that would be her bare feet. It%26#039;s much more comfortable, but I would recomend that they have very flexible heels
Reply:Well, I know you said that you don%26#039;t have her wear shoes in the house, but you shouldn%26#039;t actually have her wear shoes at all. The shoes make it so that she can not feel the %26#039;ground%26#039; under her feet, but also they restrict her foot movement, they%26#039;re uncomfortable for her, and they can cause her to have flat feet. The shoes will minipulate the way her feet grow and her feet will form to those shoes. The best thing you can do is have her feel bare, or just with socks until she starts to walk (don%26#039;t try to teach her to walk outside were she could get hurt), and after she begins to walk get first steps walking shoes.

I hope this is helpful, feel free to contact me.
Reply:I was told that ROBEEZ are good. Check out their website @ www.robeez.com
Reply:unless they%26#039;re going outside, your kids don%26#039;t need shoes at all. the only shoes they should be wearing are just plain old sneakers.

%26quot;wedges, inserts, high backs, reinforced heels, special arches, and other features designed to shape ans support the feet make shoes more expensive, but have no proven benefit for the average child.so look instead for comfortable shoes with non-skid soles that will help your baby avoid slipping on smooth floors; sneakers are fine, but remember that their feet will be growing very rapidly...so check the fit monthly during this period.%26quot;
Reply:Some doctors say the white, ankle-high, hard-soled shoes. Others say nothing.. barefeet better.

I personally had my kids walk bare-footed %26#039;til they got the hang of it. Also, there are no-slip socks that are great for little ones.. esp. on hardwood or lino floors!
Reply:your child doesnt need shoes to learn how to walk....barefoot is just fine, but if you do choose shoes, chose one with a light sole.
Reply:Our doctor always said no shoes! Don%26#039;t buy any until they are walking really good! Then light weight stuff! God BLess You all!
Reply:No Shoes. If you insist on shoes, or for outside:

Reply:No shoes. Dont put shoes on your baby to walk. It will just make it harder and a longer process. Just wait untill she gets walking donw, then go find her some cute shoes!
Reply:Shoes aren%26#039;t neccessary for a baby learning to walk. It can actually hinder them and cause them to have problems with their feet if you happen to get shoes that aren%26#039;t flexible enough. Let her enjoy being barefoot!
Reply:I%26#039;ve found it best not to put shoes on when they learn to walk. If you need shoes (like outside) Soft ones are the best, they give room and flexibility.
Reply:striderite is tried and true for years i have three children all teenagers now but that%26#039;s all i used, however different times different opinions. whatever you decide be it striderite or consulting your doctor remember your child%26#039;s feet is their foundation and foundations should be strong and solid. my mother always said %26quot;IF YOUR FEET HURT, YOUR WHOLE BODY HURTS%26quot; the foundation holds up the structure if the foundation is weak, well you know the rest anyway a hard shoe in my opinion would be best, it will help form the foot. try asking a pediatric podiatrist they mat have an excellent opinion on shoes for new walkers. good luck and since your child is a girl never let her wear shoes that are too small or too large NO MATTER HOW CUTE OR HOW GOOD THE SALE.. REMEMBER SHOES FORM OUR FEET!

Baby shoes, which ones are good for a 1 year old who just started walking?

by himself but still holds our hands pretty often. i heard i should get soft shoes, but are the stride rite soft enough, until now he had the robeez booties for when he walked on our hand.

please help, how soft do they have to be??? those i saw are not as soft as the robeez, but still softer than firm ones, but not so bendable .

thanks

Baby shoes, which ones are good for a 1 year old who just started walking?
Barefoot is best when in the house in warmer weather. Since we are in the middle of winter, I would say keep the robeez. They are the closest thing to being barefoot. Target also sells Robeez. They are a little bit cheeper too. My son still wears these shoes and he is almost 16 months old. They run big too.
Reply:My daughter has been wearing stride rite shoes for over a year. Theyre good for their feet but babies have been wearing them for a long time. If you remember those white bootie looking shoes that people have bronzed...those are stride rite. Theyve been around for a long time. They also have some really cute styles now, so you dont just have to get those white ones!

Oh, they are also made to mimick barefoot walking since that is actually the best for a baby just learning to walk.
Reply:Soft is important, but probably the more accurrate word is flexible, which Striderite is very good at, plus they will actually size your child if you take him to the store, and they have more sizes than say, Walmart and Payless. To be honest, shoes are find for when he really needs them (it%26#039;s freezing outside, or he%26#039;ll be walking where he could step on something that will hurt him), but at home, or church, or somewhere like that, let him go in socks or bare feet. Babies are best able to walk and learn to walk in bare feet. Shoes can throw them off and make it take longer for them get walk well. But when you do buy shoes, get some striderites off eBay, I did, got the great quality shoes for a much better price.
Reply:i always thought that when they first started walking you wanted the firm shoes so help keep there feet straight or something so they could walk better then you get the softer shoes hhmm you got me on this one
Reply:Stride-Rite has shoes for beginning walkers. The soles are bendable and made using a new technology to support the baby%26#039;s foot without being too stiff to disturb their newly learned balancing skills.
Reply:KEEP THE ROBEEZ BOOTIES!!! the best thing for a new walker is to walk around barefooted, this helps to develop the muscles in the foot. a hard-soled shoe is not for a new walker, shoes are only there to keep the foot warm and to protect it. my daughter is 14moths and has been walking since she was 11months, and she is mainly running, not walking. i still have her in robeez booties, although i have maybe two pairs of shoes that are hard soles. a doctor and a NICU nurse (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) who are friends of mine say that they are best thing for a beginner walker. all you need to do is make sure that the bottoms aren%26#039;t worn out, and if they are replace them. the time to get the hard soled shoes are when they are at least 2yrs old, because by that time they have developed the muscles and coordination involved with walking. besides the robeez booties have all sorts of styles that will match any outfit, and weather. i love the black patent leather ones with the bow on it for my daughter%26#039;s Sunday dress shoes.
Reply:Wal-mart sells a brand called KidsConnection. They are like the old %26#039;jellie%26#039; shoes on the bottom and are totally flexible. They are about 10.00 per pair and come in a lot of different colors and styles, most of which are really cute.

Soft are truly better, don%26#039;t buy into the high top leathers of tennis shoes, they actually restrict movement of the tendons on top of the feet and keep the ankle muscles (if there are any) from getting stronger.

I have always found that softer is better, in baby shoes anyway. LOL

Don%26#039;t get them anything that %26#039;keeps their feet straight%26#039;, it will hinder their balance. Barefoot is always best.
Reply:Ask a Podiatrist.
Reply:I%26#039;d say those with flexible and soft sole. I bought Combi, Aprica and Geox shoes for my children. Gives so much comfort and Geox %26amp; Aprica boasts abt the %26#039;shoes that breathe.%26#039;

Perhaps you can give it a try. Hope this helps :)

Baby shoes question?

My 9 month old is very close to walking. I want to buy her some really good shoes and have no idea of where to go. I live in a remote area so my best bet is to shop online. Any ideas or advice?

Baby shoes question?
Stride rite has great walking shoes. although i have grown very fond of the new soft sole shoes. my son is 10 months and is walking. and he loves them. they are so easy for him to walk in as they arent big and easy to trip over. i also love paylesses chubbies. i can send you links to all the above if you would like. send me an email.

Reply:My son only wore Stride Rite. The shoes need to be flexible. You should be able to take your thumb at one end and the rest of your fingers at the other end and bend the shoe in half. If you can%26#039;t do this with one hand the shoe is not flexible enough. Stride Rite is a little expensive, but you can probably find sales or sign up for their emails and they will send you coupons sometimes. You might try ebay also.
Reply:Stride rite is good, but only put shoes on her when she will be walking outside. Kids feet need to develop without shoes on all the time.
Reply:i would go to walmart... Kids grow out of shoes so fast you don%26#039;t want to spend a ton on shoes that there only gonna were a month or two!!

Reply:STRIDE RITE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The absolute BEST children%26#039;s shoe. Start out with their basic white walking shoe. My mom bought them for me ages ago and all of my kids wore them for their first couple of years of life. They cost a few pennies but feet are VERY important, hence, deserve a good shoe.

Do NOT skimp on your baby%26#039;s shoes. If need be, buy less expensive clothing and spend your money on the shoes.

stride rite has awesome shoes that cater to kids feet (http://www.striderite.com). I am not sure how much they sell online because we have a store here and my kid is 7 now.

There are also many good brands out there such as Hush Puppies, Merrill, Teva that make good kids shoes.
Reply:I lived in a remote area with my first (1 1/2 hours from a grocery store and 2 1/2 hours from a shopping area)

I bought him a pair of Leather Adidas for his first shoes (at the store so I could get him fitted).

Since I knew the size, I bought the same shoe (just different colored stripes each time) in the next size up whenever he outgrew his shoe. (I could then buy on-line without having to worry about trying them on).

I always bought the next pair before he outgrew his, so I would have them on hand.
Reply:yes go to shoe show or shoe departement. it is better to let him wear T-shoe like nike or puma .u can find them any where in the mall.
Reply:Stride Rite has great walking shoes. These are what I used for the first couple of years for each of my babies. However, for proper foot development it is best to let them learn barefoot. Our doctor said bare feet help with proper arch formation and shoes can ruin them or cause them to be flat footed.
Reply:My older son did really well with New Balance. My younger son is only a year old now and we%26#039;re doing with him like we did with my older son...no shoes until they can walk alone without falling and until they walk outside. Babies don%26#039;t really need shoes to walk around inside on the carpet.

Reply:A 9-month old. What a blessing! I wouldn%26#039;t get her any shoes yet, especially if she%26#039;s just learning to walk. I know this from experience after 4 kids and 2 grand kids. A barefoot baby is more surefooted, and can better flex her cute little toes. Also, especially this time of year, do you really think she needs shoes? I%26#039;d check with your pediatrician, but I think she%26#039;ll do fine without them.

As far as when you all are away from home and baby needs shoes, believe it or not, any decent shoe store is just fine. Best of luck to you both.

Reply:they say that walking barefoot is better when they just start to walk. when you look for shoes so young they should be soft so that the baby%26#039;s feet can move .
Reply:She really doesn%26#039;t need shoes, her arches will develop better if she isn%26#039;t wearing anything. But when it gets cold and she needs shoes to keep her feet warm, look for something with a soft, flexible sole. Robeez are very good. They stay on and are mulit-sized she she won%26#039;t grow out of them quickly. Plus, they are adorable.

Yes soft weightless shoes! Big heavy ones will only make him clumsier! Wait for the studly deisgns and stuff untill he has teh walking mastered a lil more! :D
Reply:non slip becuase he just started walking so his balance will still be off for a while.
Reply:Robeez are great for slippers but not as walking shoes. Your childs feet need to conform to a regular shoe now that he is walking. He needs something to support his ankles as he has little control over those muscles right now. The problem with Robeez is that they allow the childs foot to stay in it%26#039;s normal shape. I know that sounds good, but unless your child is going to go barefoot or wear soft soles all his life, it isn%26#039;t practical.

My son wears a shoe made by %26quot;Minisoft%26quot;. Take him to a childs shoe store and they will give you something appropriate for his first shoe.
Reply:Stride rite has shoes for different stages from crawling to running. I tried the cheap shoes and my son couldn%26#039;t walk in them. The soles were to hard and didn%26#039;t bend. He walked like he had clown feet. I had to buy him stride rite shoes. He started going everywhere and had no trouble. He has done great in those so that is what I stuck with. Good luck in finding the perfect shoes for him.

p.s my son was walking at 9mo and was running by 11mo and is still going strong.LOL
Reply:I put my daughter in Gerber walking shoes. They are the white high tops. They give the ankle support and gives them firmer ground to stand on. You could also ask your peds doc.

Baby Shoes & Sandals?

My child will be born on January 1 (if he%26#039;s on time) and I wanted to buy some cute shoes for him for the summer, I am not sure what size he will be though. I know that it will not be the same for any child but is there a website where you can see how big your child%26#039;s feet will be at a certain age? I tried googling it but I can%26#039;t find anything

Baby Shoes %26amp; Sandals?
This isnt exactly the answer you were looking for but it might help!

ROBEEZ!!! I absolutley love them and my daughter couldnt take them off. www.robeez.com

they go by 0-6monts, 6-12 months, ect my daughter wore 0-6 moths until she was 10 moths and now she is 16 months but still in 6-12 month size. Plus she is big for her age and always has been. I%26#039;d get some 0-6 month ones.

good luck!!
Reply:Buy a 3 or a 4. He%26#039;ll be 6 months old and about in that size range by summer. BUT, no two kids are the same. He could be 6 months old and wearing 12 month clothes and size 5 shoes, or he could be really small and still wearing a 2. It%26#039;s better to just wait until you get to the spring to buy his sandals. If you find clearance shoes now and buy them, just keep in mind that they might fit and they might not. Hope this helps!
Reply:sandals
Reply:I hate to give such a boring answer like this, but I say don%26#039;t waste your money. There%26#039;s no way to tell what size or style you might want. If he%26#039;s crawling by then, you%26#039;ll need shoes for crawling. By end of summer, he may be pulling up and cruising and you%26#039;ll need shoes for that. Shoes are the hardest thing to buy ahead of time.
Reply:I know this isn%26#039;t really the answer you were looking for, but you should wait until summer gets closer to buy these shoes. You can see how big your child%26#039;s feet are growing. (My son always had feet much bigger than his age - he was wearing 12-18 month Robeez at 7 months!)

Also, most shoes in stores at this time of year are for winter. If you want shoes appropriate for summer, you won%26#039;t see them in stores until spring.
Reply:I agree with the first answerer: Robeez are the way to go (or, if you%26#039;re cheap like me, the Target knock-offs which are about 1/3 the price). Children younger than 2 should not have hard-soled shoes, so these are just perfect. PLUS they are sold by %26quot;age%26quot; like baby clothes, so you can buy him whatever size his age will be, and they will be pretty close!

Baby Shoes or Barefoot?

I have heard both ways, but my fiancee thinks it will help our son to walk if he%26#039;s wearing his flexible shoes. I always heard it%26#039;s better to have your child barefoot as much as possible. I know he%26#039;ll walk when he%26#039;s ready, and we%26#039;re not pushing him at all, but I%26#039;d like to know if shoes are better then him being barefoot?

Baby Shoes or Barefoot?
barefoot- absolutely.Barefoot allows thier feet to grow and function properly without restriction. Of course in public that is hard. I always put my daughter in Bobux they are fairly inexpensive and have the cutest designs. You can order online or find a retailer near you. www.bobuxusa.com. hope that helps!
Reply:My son goes barefoot...Ive heard and asked doctor if its better and she said yes until they are about 2 years old. Then they need support for the ankles.

When I do put shoes on him to go outside and play, he wears soft sole shoes like Robeez or sandals.
Reply:barefoot is best i think. my little son is just learning to walk, without shoes. once he.s mastered it i will put shoes on him only if we are going out. soon enough he.ll be wearing them everyday like us. and be saying ...{ cant wait to get these shoes off}.lol as i say at the end of each and evaday.lol
Reply:When you are at the house, then put socks on, if you have carpet then go barefoot, when you go out put shoes on, i did this with my son so he can get use to wearing shoes. And not being barefoot all the time.
Reply:Well for walking that won%26#039;t help at all lol, before they walk it is a good idea to skip wearing the shoes, but once he does start walking its a good idea to keep shoes on whenever you leave the house so he understands that when its time to leave shoes must be worn, otherwise he%26#039;ll never wear them!
Reply:I did both with my kids - they were usually barefoot in the house. Put shoes on when outside of the house, just for safety, but I don%26#039;t think it necessarilly makes a big difference. They are learning to balance - sometimes shoes could help, sometimes it%26#039;s easier for the baby to be able to move his toes freely. Shoes are a different surface to deal with. I think using shoes sometimes and bare feet sometimes is the way to go. I want to say all of mine took their first steps barefooted.

Hope that helps!
Reply:I vote for barefoot. However, I do put shoes on my youngest(8 1/2 months) sometimes to try to get him to keep his socks on. LOL I will only put him in Robeez(or something comparable) though. Then his feet are protected, but also have freedom to move.
Reply:Either barefoot or go get Stride-rite shoes. They are more expensive, but they support baby better.
Reply:barefoot :) im not exactly sure why except for learning to balance on their own feet and not the shoes, but i%26#039;ve always heard that barefoot is better :)
Reply:years ago people thought babies would not learn how to walk unless they wore those hard high top shoes. thankfully we don%26#039;t feel that way anymore as is obvious from the responses you are getting. your baby will learn to walk either way. you do however need to get him used to wearing shoes. our society frowns on walking around barefoot. shoes can also help to get babies to stand flat footed. they tend to stand on their toes when they are barefoot. take your cues from your son. if he is having difficulty barefooted then see how he does with his shoes on and vice versa.
Reply:Barefoot is better. Even in flexible shoes, your baby cannot feel the ground or grip it as well as he would barefoot. My daughter is usually barefoot still at 17months, unless shoes are absolutely necessary. Most babies prefer being barefoot anyway. It is ok for him to wear shoes occasionally though, it%26#039;s not going to hinder his walking any.
Reply:I used to work in pediatric orthopaedics and our dr%26#039;s suggested Robeez there are some knock off%26#039;s too, at target and bobux and such shoes, they are great my little one wore then and still does. and the plus of them besides of them being so darn cute they can%26#039;t get them off. Barefoot is fine too, but get him some soft soled shoes. Believe me when he starts walking you will be wishing he was still crawling or laying on the floor rolling around. LOL enjoy it is such a great time!!!!

P.S. you can also wash them too! nice feature
Reply:When he is inside the home barefoot is best. Shoes are mainly for fashion and to protect their feet outside.
Reply:Well i really don%26#039;t think it matters but I can tell you barefoot is more comfy
Reply:I have also heard that barefoot is better. Compromise and have him wear shoes when you are out and about, but keep them off at home.
Reply:Shoes they help with balance and support the baby ankles.. But you don%26#039;t have to use shoes till they are learning how to walk..
Reply:There are a lot of other issues. Being barefoot and being able to move their toes freely helps with balance and it%26#039;s also that flexiblity that developes the arch of the foot
Reply:Aside from the obvious they have to wear shoes if they are walking someplace unsafe for bare feet, it is always best to have bare feet. If it is just cold loose baby booties are best, even stretchy socks can put too much pressure on the feet.

http://www.babycenter.ca/toddler/caringf...

A baby who%26#039;s just started walking takes 176 steps a minute!

Experts say that the longer a child is allowed to walk without shoes, the better as this will allow their feet to develop naturally. Certainly when your toddler starts learning to walk indoors, let her walk barefoot as long as the floor is clean and safe, as this allows the feet to develop and strengthen without restriction.

Once your baby can take a few steps confidently and may be walking outdoors on rough surfaces, protect her feet with early first shoes made of flexible, lightweight and natural materials, such as soft leather, with flexible soles and non-skid bottoms.

http://happyfeetz.com/category/how_to_ch...

Shoes are not corrective and the foot does not need support for normal activities. The foot requires mobility to function normally. It has been demonstrated that populations that are predominantly bare foot have better feet than those that wear shoes.

Children’s feet grow and develop rapidly. So choosing an appropriate child%26#039;s shoe is a very important task. While at home bare feet are fine.

pediped™ footwear are designed to be ‘the next best thing to bare feet’

There is controversy regarding the appropriate

shoes for children to wear as their feet grow and

develop. Barring such problems as severe flat

feet, or excessively flexible feet, it is perfectly

appropriate to allow your child to be barefoot

much of the time. Certainly while in the home

environment, bare feet are fine. The goal of children

wearing shoes is primarily to provide a protective

covering for the foot. Once protected,

the foot can develop into a healthy, functioning

structure.

Footwear and Shoe Fitting

Children should not wear shoes at all until they can walk, so avoid pram shoes. For babies, avoid tightly wrapped blankets that prevent kicking and leg movement and avoid baby-grows (unless you cut the foot out).

Walking bare foot, where it is safe, is good for feet. Children%26#039;s feet are vulnerable to deformity from any ill-fitting footwear/hosiery until the bones are completely formed at about 18 years of age. Fitted socks made from natural materials are much better than stretch-fit socks.
Reply:I have heard both, but I think barefoot would be the best. this way they can feel the ground under their feet and it gives them a more secure feeling.
Reply:it is better for your baby to be barefoot so they can learn balance, on thier own.
Reply:I worked in a daycare, and its def. best to have them wear shoes even if they are not walking. This prevents the legs from bowing which will be worse for them in the future!
